Building an Example Membership

See the step-by-step process involved in building two different example memberships.

Memberships have a wide range of possible applications. In this guide, we will take a look at the process involved in building a membership that does a little bit of everything. This membership will include a course, a service, and some credits. Note that the process described here takes place after selecting "Add Membership" on the main Membership Management page.

The following Membership Details settings indicate a course that will charge subscribers $75 once a month for one year (12 months). At the end of the 12-month term, all credit allocation and course/service access will stop.

We can now add content to the membership using the Included Benefits fields. We will start by selecting the "Add Service" button to add a restricted-access service for membership holders.

This will populate a field with a drop-down menu listing all available services and series. Choosing the desired service from the menu assigns it to the membership, giving subscribers access to book the service, even if it is not publicly available.

If we wanted to assign any other services to this membership, we could continue to use the "Add Service" button to create as many service drop-down fields as needed. Since, for this example, we only want to give access to one service, we will move on to the Credits section, selecting the "Add Credit" button.

This will populate a drop-down menu with a list of credits in addition to a "Frequency" field, a "Value/Quantity" field, and an "Enable Expiry" toggle. For the first credit in this example we will select the "Canine Enrichment Session" Service Credit.

Based on the membership description we chose, it makes sense to provide one credit a week here. That means we should select the "Weekly" option from the "Select Frequency" menu and enter "1" into the "Quantity/Value" field.

Since we don't want clients to be able to stockpile their weekly credits, we will keep the Enable Expiry toggle ON. That means that any credit not used within the week will expire when they receive their next week's credit. If the toggle was set to OFF, any unused credits would continue to remain Available on the client's profile.

Once we have completed all of the fields for the first credit type, we can select the "Add Credit" button again to add a second set of fields.

For the second set of credit fields in this example, we will select "Cash Credit". Referencing our membership description again, we want to apply a $10 credit once monthly. As for the first credit, we don't want the Cash Credit to roll over each month, so we will leave the Enable Expiry toggle ON. This will give clients a full month to use their credit, but will prevent them from combining it with the $10 they will receive in subsequent months.

Now that we've finished assigning credits to the membership, we can take a look at assigning a course. Much like the previous two sections, click the "Add Course" button to add an online course.

This will populate a field with a drop-down menu listing our current courses. Choosing the desired course from the menu assigns it to the membership, giving subscribers access to the course information through their Client Portal login.

As before, if we wanted to add more courses here, we could use the "Add Course" button as many times as needed. Since this example membership only needs to provide access to a single course, our membership is now complete!

Once we have reviewed and confirmed that each component is set up as desired, we can click the "Create Membership" button at the bottom of the form to add it to the list on our Membership Management page.

A green banner will confirm the successful addition of the new membership. We can now get a Direct Link for the membership and use its "Public" toggle to determine whether or not it is publicly listed.
