This guide will cover adding new pets to a client of yours. Adding a pet is a matter of how you are interacting with your client - are you on the phone or in-person? Is the client filling out an Intake Form as part of an in-store visit or is your staff answering a phone call at the front desk? Is the customer new? These scenarios and more are catalogued below so you know what is happening in your business.

Each scenario is explored below.

Through their Customer Profile

First, let's go to the Customers index to visit our client's profile. Click on the customers icon in the Left Menu.

Located in the left hand side nav menu

Select a client

Then "Add Pet"

The form has a number of default components, vaccine components, and custom fields to consider. With vaccines and other custom fields set up, these components will display below the default components.

Pet Photo

This will be displayed to employees throughout the platform and it will also be displayed to customers in the Client Portal. Customers using the Client Portal are able to upload and update their pets' photos.

Name

Name of the pet

Gender

Choice of gender, useful for addressing the pet in communications

Type

Choice of animal type

Breed

The breed of the pet, i.e. Dalmation, Calico

Birthday

The date of birth of the pet

If vaccines are added to pets through Custom Pet Fields:

Type of vaccine

Typical options include Rabies, Parvovirus, Distemper, etc.

Expiry Date

This value updates a multitude of Red-Yellow-Green warning images throughout the platform that serves as a heads-up to employees, such as when checking in a customer.

Vaccination Document

Upload or view the current vaccination document associated with the vaccine, usually a vaccine card or certificate, etc.

These questions can be configured in Custom Pet Fields which are found within Intake Forms settings.

That's it! Complete the process and click "Add Pet"

Through creating a new individual booking

Start by clicking the "+" button in the bottom-right and select "New Booking".

This will bring you to the New Booking form. Learn how to Add Bookings to your Calendar through this help article. Afterwards, we continue below with how to add a new pet with both existing and new customers.

Select the Customer/Pet tab

Create a new customer or select an existing customer through the dropdown

Click on "Add Pet"

A shortened list of default components for the pet is displayed - name, sex, species and breed.

Complete the booking and you're done!

Online booking

Customers utilizing self-driven online bookings fill out their pet's information can be very useful. These customers use either the Booking Widget on your website or a direct link with both being identical.

Start by using the widget or a direct link to select a time and email to register:

New customers will be prompted to fill out their information before entering their pet information.

Select 'Add Another Pet'

A shortened list of default components for the pet is displayed - name, sex, and breed. Add another pet if so desired with the 'Add Another Pet' button.

Click on 'Select Pet(s)' and you're done!

Editing individual bookings

Adding additional pets can be done from an existing individual booking. Navigate to an existing individual booking from your calendar or a Customer Profile's bookings tab

Select Edit

Select the Customer/Pet tab

Click on 'Add Pet'

A shortened list of default components for the pet is displayed - name, sex, species and breed.

Select 'Update Booking' and you're done!

New customer

Start by clicking the "+" button in the bottom-right and select "New Customer"

Fill out the form with the customer's information, click 'Add Customer' and then proceed to add the pet through their Customer Profile.
